Off-Season Dock Projects to Upgrade Your Waterfront
Feeling glum because the lake season’s coming to an end?

Did you know that there are plenty of off-season projects you can do to prepare for next year?

When boating season slows down, many lakefront homeowners take a step back from their docks until spring. But the off-season is actually the best time to tackle dock upgrades and improvements! With calmer schedules and lower demand for professional services, you’ll be ready to hit the water without delays once warm weather returns.

Here are four off-season dock projects for you to consider:

1. Replace Old Hardware & Upgrade Parts

Bolts, brackets, and cleats wear down over time. Replacing rusted or loose hardware now can prevent dangerous failures next season. Consider upgrading to higher-quality hot-dipped galvanized or stainless-steel parts for a longer-lasting dock.

If you already use our hardware, the hot-dipped galvanized won’t corrode, but it can still wear down with age. If your hardware is old, we recommend at least inspecting it to make sure it’s in good shape for next year.

2. Redesign Your Dock Layout

Has your family outgrown your current dock setup? Off-season is the perfect time to redesign your layout! You can add more slips, create a larger lounging area, or make it easier to launch kayaks and paddleboards, just to name a few ideas. With our modular systems, customization is simple.

If your dock has seen better days but still has a usable frame, rebuilding may be the best option. New decking materials can bring fresh life to an old dock while keeping costs manageable.

4. Upgrade to a Brand-New Dock

Sometimes, starting fresh is the best solution. Today’s dock systems are designed for easier installation, improved safety, and lower long-term maintenance. An all-new dock ensures decades of reliability. Some of our docks have been in use for over 50 years!

Why Start Now?

Working on your dock during the fall and winter gives you more time to plan, order parts, and complete projects without the pressure of boating season. Come spring, you’ll be ahead of the curve—and enjoying your dock instead of fixing it.
